AVM starts first maintenance update for the FritzBox 5690 Pro
AVM has released a new update for the FritzBox 5690 Pro, which brings some initial improvements and bug fixes. Users can therefore look forward to optimized performance and improved stability.
Update now available
This update is particularly interesting because it is the first general update for the new FritzBox 5690 Pro after its official launch. This router, which is optimized for fiber optics, has only been available for a short time and is therefore not yet widely used. AVM usually launches smaller updates like this when it launches to quickly correct problems that users have reported. It is not known to what extent this applies here, but in any case the maintenance update is only for bug fixes.
There were problems with VLAN markings on fiber optic connections, the zero-wait DFS function and the integration of the 6GHz WLAN. For the X platform, AVM only writes that improvements are being made in the areas of Internet, WLAN and system. There are apparently no new functions. The release notes contain the following changes:
Improvements in FritzOS 7.62
- Internet:
- Improvement – Optimized handling of VLAN markings on fiber optic connections
- WiFi:
- Fixed – Display for Zero-Wait DFS function on the “WLAN > Radio Channel > 5 GHz” page was not correct when scanning the channels
- Improvement – Improved integration of 6GHz Wi-Fi in the user interface
- System:
- Improved system stability
Tips for the update
Owners of a non-provider-bound FritzBox can now install the update using the online update function of their devices. For devices that are bound to providers, there may be a delay in the release. Alternatively, the download packages can be downloaded directly from the AVM website These updates also contribute to the general stability of the devices. AVM recommends installing the new updates promptly, as they may also contain security-related changes.
