AVM updates repeater, gateway and apps
AVM is now distributing three new FritzOS and app updates. The Fritz!WLAN Repeater DVB-C and the Fritz!App Fon for Android are being updated, while another Matter patch is being rolled out in the laboratory (beta) for the Fritz!Smart Gateway.
FritzOS 7.0.4 for WLAN repeaters with DVB-C
The AVM Fritz!WLAN Repeater DVB-C is now receiving the update to FritzOS 7.04. The new firmware enables, among other things, the playback of DVB-C content via the VLC Player (“Universal Plug’n’Play”). In addition, the compatibility of the WLAN amplifier with integrated DVB-C tuner with various FritzBoxes has been improved, both with models with mesh functionality from FritzOS 7.90 and with the new Wi-Fi 7 routers from AVM.
Fritz!App Fon receives new Android update
The Berlin IT company is also working on its Fritz!App Fon for smartphones with the Google Android operating system. In addition to the usual, unspecified stability and detail improvements, the update to version 2.12.2 fixes a bug that caused door intercoms to not send an image as soon as registration was required.
New FritzOS laboratory for Fritz!Smart Gateway
Last but not least, AVM supplies the Fritz!Smart Gateway in the so-called laboratory with the new FritzOS test version 7.62-114848. After integrating the modern communication standard Matter, the manufacturer’s smart home extension, which is also Zigbee 3.0-capable, now also supports roller shutters, blinds and motion detectors for Matter controllers. There are also various bug fixes, e.g. for errors related to the Tradfri Motion Sensor from IKEA and Philips Hue.
How to get the new updates
The update to FritzOS 7.0.4 for the Fritz!WLAN Repeater DVB-C can be downloaded directly via the browser interface of the device. For the initial installation of the FritzOS laboratory on the Fritz!Smart Gateway, we recommend visiting the AVM website The latest version of the Fritz!App Fon is available in the classic way via the Google Play Store available.
