Avowed: Bugs, Glitches, and How to Fix Them

Avowed is finally here, and it’s already shaping up to be one of the most exciting RPGs in recent memory. While it’s my personal favorite so far, I haven’t had a chance to play Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 yet, so my opinion might change. That said, no game launches without a few hiccups, and Avowed is no exception. We’ve compiled a list of known bugs and glitches players are encountering, along with some potential workarounds to help you get back into the action.
No Bounty Trophies
Some bounties aren’t working as intended. In certain cases, after completing a bounty and killing the required targets, the trophies you need to collect simply don’t appear. For example, during the Yellowband Bounty, you’re tasked with defeating a gang east of Paradis and collecting their armbands. Unfortunately, even after defeating all members, some players find themselves unable to collect all five armbands required to complete the quest.
In one instance, I killed the entire gang before picking up the bounty, but when I returned to the bounty board, I was told I was still missing one armband. Heading back to the camp didn’t help, as no new lootable armbands appeared. Similar issues have been reported during the Urvolnau and The Sporeking bounties.
Solution: The only current fix is to reload a prior save. In my case, I restarted from a save before taking the bounty, picked it up first, then collected all five armbands successfully. If you experience this with other bounties, reloading seems to be the only option for now.
Can’t Level Companions
Another frustrating bug involves the companion leveling screen. For one of our team members, every time they tried to access the companion leveling menu, their game froze completely, making it impossible to level up their companions.
Solution: If you’re on Xbox, going to the home screen and then back into the game seems to resolve the issue. Alternatively, try fast traveling to a different location, which has also worked for some players.
An Untimely End Bug
During the Untimely End quest, players are given a choice: kill the assassin or let them go free. However, some players are experiencing a bug where combat starts no matter what choice they make, negating their decision entirely.
Solution: The quick fix here is to let yourself die. When you respawn, the game should correctly update your journal to reflect your choice.
Falling Through the World
Occasionally, certain buildings or areas fail to load properly. If you walk into one of these areas, you’ll find yourself falling endlessly through the map, unable to escape your fate.
Solution: Reload your last save and try again. Unfortunately, there’s no way to prevent this issue for now.
Unable to Speak to Quest-Related NPCs
Some players have reported issues where quest-related NPCs become unresponsive, making it impossible to progress. This is especially frustrating when these NPCs are essential for completing the quest.
Solution: If the NPC in question is someone you’ve spoken to before, try reloading a save from before that interaction. The issue may stem from speaking to certain NPCs out of order. While untested, this workaround has helped in some cases.
Final Thoughts
Avowed is set to officially launch on February 18, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC via Steam, the Xbox App, and Battle.net.
