Biggest iPhone Lineup Yet: Apple to Launch Six New Models by 2027

Apple could offer six different brand new iPhone variants for the first time in 2027. With simultaneous availability of some of the older generation models, it should be the largest iPhone listing so far.

Six iPhone models available at the same time

Apple diversified iPhone line-up. With the iPhone 17 Air, the thinnest iPhone ever will appear soon. In addition, the offer with the upcoming iPhone Fold is expanded to include the very first foldable smartphone from Cupertino. And so in 2027 six different new iPhone models could be in the shops at the same time.

That would be an unusually large selection. In the past, Apple had only offered four to five models in parallel. The six models, which are probably to be selected, will also differ significantly from one another. The expected line-up for 2027 includes according to Instant digitally Weibo (via Macrumors) The entire iPhone-18 series with the following models:

  • iPhone 18
  • iPhone 18e
  • iPhone 18 Air
  • iPhone 18 Pro
  • iPhone 18 Pro Max
  • iPhone fold

Apple also plans to start a staggered sales start for the iPhone 18 series. The Pro models and the iPhone Fold are expected to appear at the end of 2026, while with the standard model and the iPhone 18E, the less powerful smartphones from Cupertino will only follow in spring 2027. This strategy would break the traditional autumn publication.

Starting start of sales replaces tradition

Apple has published new iPhones so far since the iPhone 5 in September. This established practice was rarely broken. The iPhone X only appeared in November 2017 as exceptions, while the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max 2020 also started late. However, this was due to production problems during corona pandemic.

However, this strategy is not completely new to Apple. In the past, the SE series outside the autumn cycle was released. The first iPhone SE came in March 2016, the second in April 2020 and the third in March 2022. The same applies to the iPhone 16E, which was introduced as the successor to the SE series in February 2025.

Analyst confirms new sales strategy

The plans for a division of the iPhone publications are supported by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. At the beginning of 2025, he reported on Apple’s intent to launch Pro models in autumn and standard models in the following spring. This strategy could help Apple relieve the supply chains and generate attention for its new smartphones all year round.

Historically, Apple has already experimented several times with various publication cycles. For example, the iPad is often updated in spring, while the Apple Watch usually appears in autumn. The MAC product line does not follow any fixed schedule and is updated depending on the availability of new processors.

Even greater offer by older generations

In addition to the six new models, Apple will probably continue to sell older iPhone generations. In addition to the five iPhone 16 models, the company currently offers the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. In 2027, up to eight different iPhone models could also be available at the same time. It would be the biggest line-up in iPhone history.

This strategy may be based on Samsung. The Koreans have already successfully published various Galaxy models over the year. Samsung traditionally brings the Galaxy S series on the market in spring and foldable models at various times. For Apple, diversification could work in the long term, even if it watered down the clear autumn focus.
