Blasphemous Content: Facebook Delegation Coming To Pakistan To Investigate The Matter

Facebook has agreed to send a team to Pakistan to investigate the sensitive matter relating to the blasphemous content.

Blasphemy is a serious crime in Pakistan. Earlier, the country has seen many such cases leading to death penalties by the government or, in few cases, by individuals themselves.

To avoid any such issue in the future, Pakistan wishes to seek Facebook’s advice. Earlier, this month the Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan requested Facebook to help them identify the hate-spreaders’ account details.

The interior ministry has also told media that Facebook will be sending a team to discuss the matter in detail. They are of the opinion that dialog between these two parties would be more appropriate prior to any strict conclusions.

Sources say that Facebook has looked into the request sent by the government. But has not yet rolled out details regarding sending an envoy to assist Pakistan in relation to blasphemous content.

They also told that Facebook does not disclose any information which is against their policies. “We disclose information about accounts solely in accordance with our terms of service and applicable law,” said Facebook.

The Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, has been warmed up and wants the matter to end from its root. He also suggested a local version of Facebook and other big such giants. The government is also in the opinion to block Facebook and others if these networks can’t help in resolving a national level issue.

An official from the interior ministry has told a court that around 70 pages containing such hateful posts have been removed from Facebook administration.
