BOE Launches World’s First AMQLED 4K Display In 55-inches

Recently, BOE announced the launch of the world’s first 55-inch 4K active-matrix quantum dot light-emitting diode (AMQLED) display. This is another major achievement BOE has achieved in the field of electroluminescent quantum dots following the release of high-resolution QLED technology at the beginning of this year’s progress. It is understood that Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diodes (QLEDs) are generally considered to be a more disruptive next-generation display technology after Active Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diodes (AMOLED).

At present, the application of quantum dot technology in display products mainly includes photoluminescence quantum dot backlight technology and active electroluminescence quantum dot diode technology (AMQLED).

Different from the photoluminescence quantum dot backlight technology, AMQLED displays do not require a backlight, and the quantum dots can emit light by injecting current. It has the advantages of self-luminescence, wide color gamut, and long life, and has become the development direction of quantum dot displays.

Among them, the research and development of large-size quantum dot printing technology and products is the key breakthrough point, which has attracted the attention of the industry.

The 55-inch 4K AMQLED display product launched by BOE this time uses electroluminescent quantum dot technology with a resolution of 3840×2160, a color gamut of up to 119% NTSC, and a contrast ratio of 1000000:1. It has a broad market space in the field of large-size displays. And application prospects. In the AMQLED field, BOE’s electroluminescent quantum dot technology is at the international leading level. As early as 2017, BOE launched 5-inch and 14-inch AMQLED product prototypes with full inkjet printing technology and was highly praised by the International Society for Information Display (SID) Best in Show Award.
