China begins working on 6G Research

China has already started working on 6G. The world has just become familiar with 5G, but, China has already started research on 6G.

It was announced by the science and technology ministry of China that it has formed two teams to supervise the 6G research and study. One team will have government departments that will be in charge of the execution of the 6G technology.

The other team will have 37 experts from different universities, science institutions, and corporations. They will provide technical advice for the major decisions taken by the government on 6G.

5G is said to have 10 times greater data transmission speed in comparison to 4G. However, it is too early to say what 6G would have in store.

There is still a long way to go for 6G. Even 5G is something very new. South Korea is the only country that has launched 5G other than China. Other developed countries like the U.K. and the U.S. have launched in just limited cities.

Vice Minister Wang Xi of the Ministry of Science and Technology said 6G is in the “initial stage, the technical route is still not clear, and the key indicators and application scenarios have not been standardized and defined.”
