China Inaugurates First 5G Network Bridge

On Wednesday China’s state-asset regulator made the announcement that a bridge was opened previously this week in the Southern province of Guangdong which is the nation’s first 5G network bridge.

The bridge is also known as the Humen Second Bridge. It is 40.5meter-wide Nansha Bridge and is the world’s widest steel box girder suspension bridge.

It links Guangzhou and Dongguan, the two major cities in the Greater Bay Area. The bridge is designed to maintain a traffic speed of 100kph and is expected to immensely provide relief to the traffic pressure in the area.

As per the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration of the State Council, the recent major transportation project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the 12.89km bridge started to give 4G and 5G services on the same day it was inaugurated that is April 2.

For ensuring smoother connectivity, telecommunication base stations were introduced on the towers and the lamp posts of the bridge, which indeed is a creative technique as per the commission.

The Nansha bridge adopts a two-way eight-lane highway standard and is anticipated to take care of 120,000 vehicles on a per day basis.
