Copilot+ PCs Are Getting New AI-Powered Features

Copilot+ PCs are still searching for an exclusive “killer” feature to set them apart from the competition. While the promised AI capabilities exist on some of the best AI-powered PCs (not all of which carry the Copilot+ name), Microsoft is working to make these devices stand out. Recent updates include a new AI-powered menu in Paint and an improved Windows Search experience, both currently in testing.

Copilot in Paint: A New AI Menu

Microsoft Paint is about to become even smarter. A new Copilot menu is being tested, consolidating all the app’s AI tools into one central hub. Over the past couple of years, Paint has gained exciting AI features, such as the DALL-E-powered Cocreator launched in 2023, along with generative fill and background removal. All these features will now live under the upcoming Copilot menu.

The new menu is available to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev channels running Paint version 11.2412.271.0. However, to access all of Paint’s AI tools, including Cocreator, you’ll need a Copilot+ PC, as some features are exclusive to those devices.

Microsoft announced this change alongside the release of Windows Insider Preview Build 26120.3073. Insiders can try out the feature now to see how it enhances their workflow.

Improved Windows Search: AI-Powered Content Discovery

Windows Search is also getting a boost for Copilot+ PCs, starting with devices powered by Snapdragon chips. Microsoft is gradually rolling out an AI-enhanced search experience within File Explorer. Using simple, everyday language, users can now search for content stored in the cloud, including photos and keywords within documents. This makes it easier to locate a wide range of files quickly.

While the improved search is currently exclusive to Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs, Intel and AMD Copilot+ PCs are expected to gain support in the future. Microsoft first announced this feature last year, and it’s now being tested in File Explorer. Eventually, it will expand to the universal Windows Search pane.

Stay tuned for the latest updates on how Microsoft is transforming Copilot+ PCs with cutting-edge AI tools. These features could be game-changing for users looking to optimize their productivity!
