Counterpoint: Huawei benefits the most from the resurgence in China’s smartphone sales

According to a fresh report from Counterpoint Research, the smartphone market in China is getting better with time. On a yearly basis, in the third quarter of the year, sales declined by just 3%. It is a strong indication of the market’s recovery. According to the report, the Chinese company Huawei recorded the biggest gains. Notably, the company increased its sales by 37%.

With the X50 and 90 series selling well, Honor surpassed Vivo and Oppo to take the top spot in the July–September timeframe. Sales at Huawei increased due to the Mate 60 series. Notably, these series come with Kirin chipsets. According to Ivan Lam, the Senior Analyst, the Mate 60 series was a big win for the company. The company is putting in all its efforts to cater to online and on-ground distribution demand for the Mate 60.

On the other hand, Xiaomi’s sales increased by 5%. The company secured the fifth position in China. The company earned huge sales given the promotions for the Redmi K and Note series. To counteract any potential downward pressure, the corporation concentrated on providing retailers and consumers with more reasonably priced, affordable products. According to Alicia Gong, the research analyst, Xiaomi’s strategy was quite effective.

Price reductions earlier in the year encouraged consumers to choose the iPhone 14 over the upcoming iPhone 15, which resulted in a fall in Apple’s market share. Less investment in Tier 2 and below cities, as well as a less aggressive approach than Honor and Xiaomi, impacted Oppo and Vivo. The Oppo Find N2 Flip was the top-selling clamshell foldable in the third quarter of the current fiscal year. However, Honor Magic V2 topped the list of foldables with a vertical hinge. At year’s end, all companies expect to benefit from strong sales.
