Google and Microsoft have launched critical security updates for their Chrome and Edge web browsers. The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) is already warning of a high risk and users should act immediately and install the updates.
Two versions have been released for Microsoft Edge: the stable version 131.0.2903.112 and the extended stable version 130.0.2849.123. These updates close a total of four security vulnerabilities and make additional minor fixes. Google Chrome also received an update that fixes five security vulnerabilities.
The updates address several critical vulnerabilities that could be exploited by attackers to gain remote access to their victims’ PCs. So far there is little information about the details, which is not unusual. Details about the security gaps are usually only available some time after the update has started so as not to endanger users.
