Cult fun racer Mario Kart 9 ready to launch? with Nintendo Switch 2

There has been a real wave of leaks about the Nintendo Switch 2 in the past few days and weeks and in addition to hardware details, there are also indications of possible launch titles, especially Mario Kart 9. But there are also insiders who question this.

New details about the Nintendo Switch 2 have emerged

The rumor mill about Nintendo’s next generation of consoles is bubbling and there is no end in sight (until Nintendo introduces the device). An anonymous user is currently causing a stir because he claims to already have a final copy of the new console. Although such claims should be viewed with caution, the leaker appears to have told the moderators of the Nintendo Switch 2 subreddits convincing evidence (which was deliberately not published) was presented.

According to user NextHandheld – as previously reported – the new console will actually be called Nintendo Switch 2. The logo will feature a large “2” next to the original Switch logo. There are also initial information about the design: The docking station should have rounded edges and not completely cover the screen. This could indicate a possible standby mode where part of the display remains visible.

Hardware details and exclusive games

The leaker also mentions technical details. The launch version of the console is said to be equipped with an LCD screen, contrary to previous rumors that spoke about an OLED panel. The Joy-Con controllers are magnetically connected to the console. Another innovation concerns the game modules: They should have a different shape than that of the current Switch, which would enable exclusive titles for the new console.

Mario Kart 9 as a launch title?

An interesting detail concerns possible launch titles. The leaker suggests that Nintendo is planning a special edition of the Switch 2 that will be bundled with a new game. When asked, he only gave the number “9” as a clue, which many fans interpreted as a reference to “Mario Kart 9”.

Given that the last main offshoot of the popular racing series appeared over ten years ago, a new Mario Kart would be quite conceivable as a launch title. Samus Hunter, a well-known Nintendo insider, provides the rumors and the technical details via Twitter in question: “Many aspects regarding the hardware match what has been circulating for months, however the information about the game with the 9 is not Mario Kart, it is not targeted as a launch title.”
