Daimler Unveils electric cars with a range of 1000 km

Thanks to fast charging systems, the range is not necessarily of great relevance in electric vehicle practice, but for many customers, it is of great importance how far they can get, or rather how far they can get on one battery charge. And here Daimler made an announcement as part of CES 2022, namely 1000 kilometers.

Daimler is a regular at the Consumer Electronics Show, the Stuttgart carmaker regularly presents its future visions in Las Vegas. Although these are exclusively concept cars, these are sometimes more futuristic, sometimes closer to reality. For example, two years ago it was the “Avatar” car Mercedes-Benz AVTR, but this vehicle was pure science fiction.

1000 kilometers

In the case of the now shown Mercedes EQXX, however, the latter is more the case, so it is quite conceivable that this model will actually be found on the streets in the near future. Because the electric car looks more or less “normal”. This is due, on the one hand, to the fact that the aerodynamics in production vehicles have already been optimized today and, on the other hand, because the innovations of the Mercedes EQXX are under the bonnet, as the vehicle is fully designed for efficiency and endurance. Daimler writes that according to “internal digital simulations”, it can or could drive over 1000 kilometers in real road traffic with a single battery charge – with a 100 kWh battery. The car manufacturer describes this as a “new level in terms of range”.

According to the CES video presentation as well as one Press release, Essentially all components have been optimized for this purpose, including the use of an improved electric drive train, lightweight materials, tires with low rolling resistance, sophisticated aerodynamics, and the use of state-of-the-art software. Ola Kllenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz AG: “The Mercedes-Benz VISION EQXX shows how we imagine the future of the electric car. In just one and a half years we have developed the most efficient Mercedes of all time – with an energy consumption of less than 10 kWh per 100 kilometers. “
