Dell is Launching it’s Own Jewelry Line

The leading multinational electronics company Dell has announced the launch of its very own limited-edition jewelry line. The more amazing part is yet to come, this jewelry is made from recycled motherboards that are gold mined.

Can you believe that? So Dell the company that introduced some of the best laptops and PCs, brought innovation through technology globally, is now investing in jewelry business but the touch of electronics will be there too.

Cathleen McCarthy, the jewelry specialist at The Jewelry Loupe blog, said, “Given the connection with the computer world, the line is suitably simplistic and modern with clean lines, high polish, and even in some cases a little industrial looking (those hoops). Conversation is what this whole line is about – nothing special design-wise but a simple basic with an interesting backstory.”

For this venture, Dell has collaborated with the Twilight star, Nikki Read. The jewelry collection, soon to be released by Dell has all the pieces made from gold that are brought together from used PC parts including motherboards.

The products are manufactured in USA. They include gold rings, earrings, and cufflinks 14 and 18 carat.

So Dell is recycling old material that could have been thrown to garbage and then creating valuable items from it. For circular collection the prices of the items start from $78. These jewelry items will be sold through Reed’s store Bayou With Love.

Jeff Clarke, Dell’s vice chairman said, “When you think about the fact that there is up to 800x more gold in a ton of motherboards than a ton of ore from the earth, you start to realize the enormous opportunity we have to put valuable materials to work.”

Moreover the news is that Dell is also using its recycled gold in new, recent motherboards. The company has made the announcement to take used recycled gold from old used electronics and add them in new motherboards. This will start from its new Latitude 5285 2-in-1 model launch in 2018 spring.

Dell said,” It aims to use 100 million pounds of recycled material in its product portfolio by 2020. If you’d like to contribute a laptop to the cause, you can drop it off at any Goodwill that’s participating in the Dell Reconnect program.”

Dell will be using its closed loop gold process to manufacture millions of motherboards.
