The Chinese manufacturer Oppo is pushing the European market with other smartphones with the Find X5 series and wants to introduce a more affordable version that is also well-equipped and a Lite version in addition to the Pro model. We have all the information in advance. The Oppo Find X5 5G has been slimmed down in some areas compared to the Pro model to make it significantly cheaper in comparison. The “regular” Find X5, which is also equipped with high-end specifications, is by no means cheap with prices of around 1000 euros.
While the camera unit is practically unchanged from the Pro model, there is a slight downgrade in terms of display, platform, and battery. With a diagonal of 6.55 inches, the screen on the Oppo Find X5 5G is somewhat smaller than on the huge Pro model, and here too the edges of the screen are slightly set back. The resolution is still a respectable 2400×1080 pixel.
With a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hertz, 10-bit color depth and HDR support, and a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus lid, the Oppo Find X5’s panel is quite impressive. The front camera sits in a hole in the top left corner of the screen and has a decent 32-megapixel resolution. As is so often the case, the fingerprint reader is placed directly below the screen surface.
Unlike the Pro model, the technical basis of the Oppo Find X5 5G is not the ultramodern Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, but its predecessor Snapdragon 888. This octa-core SoC also offers enough power with clock speeds of up to 2.84 gigahertz and is at the top. Located at the end of the performance scale. In Europe, it will only be installed together with eight gigabytes of LPDDR5 RAM and 256 GB of fast UFS 3.1 flash memory, although the latter cannot be expanded, unfortunately.
The cameras in the Oppo Find X5 5G are apparently completely identical to the Pro model. An Oppo MariSilicon X AI chip is responsible for image processing, while two 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensors are used for the main and ultra-wide-angle cameras. In any case, the main camera has an optical image stabilizer implemented in hardware. There is also a 13-megapixel camera from Samsung for telephoto zoom photos, which in combination with the other two cameras offers a hybrid zoom of up to five times. Focusing takes place via focus pixels integrated into the sensors and 10-bit HDR videos with 4K resolution are possible.
The 4800mAh large battery can be quickly charged with no less than 80 watts with the supplied power adapter, while wireless charging is also supported. Oppo lets the Find X5 not only transmit via 5G, but also via WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC. Unlike the Pro model, the normal Find X5 is unfortunately not IP68 certified and therefore not officially water and dustproof. The operating system here is also Android 12 in the form of Oppo’s ColorOS 12.1. The Oppo Find X5 Lite is a sort of European version of the recently launched Oppo Reno7. The device has a much more generic design and comes in a simpler plastic case. According to our information, the Lite model is available for around 500 euros and offers, among other things, an OLED display, high-resolution cameras, and a 5G-compatible MediaTek SoC.
The display of the Oppo Find X5 Lite is 6.43 inches and uses an AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels, a cover made of Corning Gorilla Glass 5, and 8-bit color depth. The maximum refresh rate is 90 Hertz and there is again a fingerprint reader under the screen surface.
The heart of the Find X5 Lite is the MediaTek Dimensity 900 octa-core SoC, whose two high-end cores reach a maximum of 2.4 gigahertz and which come with an integrated 5G modem. Oppo offers the Find X5 Lite in principle only in one memory variant with eight gigabytes of RAM and 256 GB of internal flash memory. Again, you’ll have to make do without a MicroSD card slot. The cameras of the Oppo Find X5 Lite have to do without the AI chip MariSilicon X.
The main camera uses a 64-megapixel sensor with an aperture of F/1.7, while the ultra-wide-angle camera works with eight megapixels and an aperture of F. /2.25 has. There’s also a largely pointless macro camera with a paltry two megapixels and an aperture of F/2.4. The front camera uses a 32-megapixel Sony IMX615 sensor. Of course, you have to make do with the Lite model without premium features such as an optical image stabilizer in hardware. The Oppo Find X5 Lite has a 4500mAh battery, which can be “pumped” with no less than 65 watts in a very short time thanks to the fast charging function. Transmission is also via WiFi 6, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.2, and, unlike the two more expensive Find X5 variants, there’s even a 3.5mm jack for headphones. Oppo supplies the Find X5 Lite with Android 12 and ColorOS 12.1.
