Dolby Atmos-released music on Apple Music will earn artists more money

According to a recent report by Bloomberg, Apple intends to provide financial incentives to record labels and artists in exchange for releasing Dolby Atmos versions of their songs on Apple Music. According to the source, artists and record companies would still receive payment even if fans didn’t play those tracks in spatial audio format. To claim the benefits, releasing Dolby Atmos-supported versions of their songs will be enough.

In September 2021, the company introduced spatial audio with Dolby Atmos to Apple Music. Since then, several artists have added their spatial audio versions of songs to the platform. Besides this, these days, famous artists publish their new songs with Dolby Atmos support on streaming services. In simple words, we can find tons of songs on Apple Music with support for spatial audio with Dolby Atmos.

However, several songs still have no support for this feature. There are several artists who prefer to publish their songs without Dolby Atmos support. From Bloomberg’s perspective, it appears like the company intends to change this and expand the portfolio of songs on Apple Music that feature support for spatial audio with Dolby Atmos.
