Samsung might not update selfie camera in Galaxy S24

The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, which will feature the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Tab S9 series, and two Galaxy Watch 6 wearables, is presently the center of excitement for the whole tech community. Although discussing Samsung’s flagships for 2024 may sound premature, it is a well-known truth that manufacturers begin developing products some months in advance. Considering this, a recent rumor suggests that Samsung may not be planning any significant improvements to the selfie camera for the three Galaxy S24 flagships early in the following year.

GalaxyClub, a Dutch-language technology publication, reported the rumor, however it didn’t specify where it came from. This practically means that the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra will all feature the same 12MP f/2.2 front camera once again.

The 200MP primary rear camera sensor from the Galaxy S23 Ultra earlier this year has also been linked to rumours of a return by Samsung, as SamMobile notes. Since this is the company’s most recent camera unit, recycling this enormous sensor for the Galaxy S24 Ultra wouldn’t be ridiculous.

In the meantime, a patent filing from April suggested that the business may have plans to replace the Sony IMX camera found on the Galaxy S23 Ultra with an ISOCELL-branded telephoto sensor for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Given that the Galaxy S24 won’t be released for another seven months, it is currently too early to confirm or refute any of these rumours. Samsung is probably not going to address these rumours until the early 2024 Galaxy Unpacked event, which takes place somewhere in February.

The South Korean electronics behemoth is now having trouble keeping the lid on its next foldables as leaks keep coming in. Renders of the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra that highlight its keyboard stand and S Pen stylus surfaced earlier this week. The Galaxy Watch 6 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Z Flip 5 have all already made a ton of appearances in leaks.
