Elon Musk Announces First Starship Flight In July

Elon Musk, chief of SpaceX, said that the next-generation Starship rocket will be available for its first orbital flight in July.

Musk tweeted the news shortly following the release of a long-awaited Environmental Assessment by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). It stated that SpaceX could launch a Starship flight from its Starbase facility at Boca Chica in Texas provided it completes a series of tasks to reduce the impact of launches on local areas.

SpaceX must obtain a launch permit in the next few weeks from the FAA to fly the Starship into space in July.

Musk tweeted that “Starship will fly next month” on Tuesday, June 14.

added shortly after that, saying that a second Starship rocket would be ready for flight in August “and then every month thereafter.”

The Starship second stage, which is 392-foot tall, consists of the Super Heavy first and Starship second stages. When it finally takes to the ground, the reusable vehicle will be the strongest rocket ever built. It will eventually transport astronauts and supplies to Mars and the moon. SpaceX has tested the Starship second-stage spacecraft on orbital flights, but not at high altitudes. However, the Super Heavy is still to fly.

The Super Heavy’s 33 Raptor engine will blast the vehicle into the sky, making it a stunning sight. The Starship will separate from the Super Heavy just three minutes into the test flight. This mission is expected to last approximately 90 minutes. NASA will be able to successfully test the Starship spacecraft and use it to land the first person of color and woman on the moon’s surface. This mission will not take place before 2025.

It could be used to transport supplies to the Moon to aid in building NASA’s lunar base.

NASA chief Bill Nelson stated last year that America’s new era in crewed space exploration would allow it to better understand what it needs to do for humans to reach Mars.

Nelson stated that what we can do on the Moon is to learn how to survive and exist in hostile environments. They are only three or four days from Earth, but we will be able to explore further afield. “That’s our whole purpose. We go back to the moon, we learn there how to live, and we create habitats. NASA currently targets the 2030s to launch the first Mars-bound astronaut mission.
