Elon Musk insults EU Commissioner Over EU Laws

Entrepreneur Elon Musk can hardly expect any well-meaning concessions in possible future negotiations with EU authorities. The reason for this is his reaction to a letter from EU Commissioner Thierry Breton.

No unfounded writing

In light of Musk’s recent statements, with which he, for example, fueled the right-wing extremist pogroms in Great Britain, Breton turned to the entrepreneur before Musk’s publicly broadcast conversation with US presidential candidate Donald Trump yesterday. In this conversation, the EU Commissioner once again pointed out the applicable laws in the EU as a precaution. These regulate the spread of false information, incitement and calls for violence.

This is relevant insofar as the live broadcast was also broadcast via the European usage areas and timelines of the social media platform X/Twitter. Musk’s first reaction was just a short “Bonjour”. However, another post followed later. “To be honest, I actually wanted to respond with this Tropic Thunder meme, but I would NEVER do something so rude and irresponsible!” wrote Musk, attaching the meme in question. And this is nothing other than an insult to the person he was talking to.

Yaccarino also reports

Such treatment of other users may be normal on the X platform – especially since Musk took over. With regard to formal communication with an official institution, such as Breton, the responsible EU Commissioner, this is simply an infantile lack of respect. Musk’s right-hand man, X boss Linda Yaccarino, also rejected Breton’s letter and explained that it is an “unprecedented attempt” to extend European law to political life in the USA. But this simply ignores the fact that the platform has independent business activities in Europe and must therefore respect local legislation.
