Europe gets Galaxy S25 models with smaller storage

Samsung is apparently planning to offer a 128 GB variant of the Galaxy S25 with 12 GB of RAM for European customers. This storage configuration is far behind what other markets will get – this decision raises questions about market strategy.

Unequal storage facilities for Europe

Samsung is preparing to release its new Galaxy S25 series. Only a few days ago we received exclusive exclusive images of the design and the new Qi2 cases. Now there are new and unfortunately also disappointing details.

Because now there is a leak from Vietnam that says that although Samsung will offer a 256 GB version of the upcoming Galaxy S25 with 12 GB of RAM, European customers will only be offered a basic version of the S25 with just 128 GB of storage space. This decision contrasts with other markets, where the entry-level model apparently comes with 256 GB of storage.

The unequal treatment could cause discontent among European Samsung fans, especially as more storage space on smartphones is increasingly in demand. The difference between the entry-level models was discovered via the pre-order options. Samsung appears to be pursuing a two-pronged strategy. Speculation about Samsung’s motives ranges from using older memory chips to strengthening pre-order promotions.

By offering a free memory upgrade as a pre-order bonus, Samsung could try to further stimulate the European market. Despite this “memory discrepancy”, there is also new positive news: All models in the S25 series are said to be equipped with at least 12 GB of RAM, which is a significant improvement compared to its predecessor. According to rumors, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will even be available with up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage.

Price development and availability

The pricing of the new Galaxy S25 series could also cause discussion. According to TechRadar, leaked European prices suggest an increase of 60 to 105 euros compared to the S24 range. The basic model Galaxy S25 should therefore start at 964.90 euros, while the S25 Ultra could cost 1557.90 euros.

Samsung plans to officially unveil the Galaxy S25 series on January 22, 2025. Delivery could then begin in the first week of February, with pre-orderers possibly receiving their devices as early as February 3rd.
