Once again, Microsoft is using Patch Day to point out the upcoming adjustments to Home and Pro editions of Windows 11, version 22H2. From October 8, 2024, these versions will only receive security updates, so it is recommended to update to the “latest versions of Windows” at this point. This month, the company is also making improvements to the “servicing stack”, which handles the installation of Windows updates.

If you look at the adjustments for Windows 11 this month, they are very manageable alongside the security updates for version 23H2. Version 22H2 addresses problems with the Windows Installer that had led to errors in connection with User Account Control. Improvements that were part of the KB5041587 update are also being delivered. In Windows 11, version 21H2, unstable connections with Bluetooth headphones have been fixed, among other things.

The same applies to Windows 10: The patch day updates include improvements that were delivered at the end of August – in this case KB5041582 from August 29th. Of course, all Windows 10 versions also include the fixes for security issues and the previously mentioned adjustments to the “Servicing Stack”. While the “User Account Control” problem is fixed in all versions, version 1809 has by far the longest list of “improvements”.

Accordingly, problems with printers that are used in restricted settings such as AppContainer have been resolved. In addition, drives can now be decrypted again using BitLocker – the problem occurred when drives were transferred from new to older versions. Windows Server 2019 is said to no longer be plagued by errors that led to high CPU usage. Remote Desktop is also said to be working properly again.
