Ex-Witcher makers show off their new game

Bandai Namco has announced a new action role-playing game and revealed it with a first trailer: In The Blood of Dawnwalker, players take on the role of a young man who becomes a vampire himself in a dark fantasy world in order to save his loved ones.

Vampire saga in the Dark Ages

The Blood of Dawnwalker is set in 14th century Europe, a time in which the continent suffers from political and social conflicts as well as epidemics such as the plague. To make matters worse, there is another threat here: in the plight of humans, vampires and other creatures of the night see their chance to take power and step out of the shadows together.

At the center of the plot is Coen, who we get to know a little better in the cinematic trailer. In the video, he tries to help his sick sister, but the two end up in a seemingly hopeless situation in which they ultimately receive unexpected “help”.

What the preview doesn’t show yet: Coen himself becomes a “Dawnwalker”, i.e. a hybrid of human and vampire, which gives him very special powers. When Coen can use these will also depend on the time of day. And: He only has 30 days to pursue his goals. So players will feel a certain amount of time pressure when exploring the open world.

Ambitious project

The Blood of Dawnwalker is the debut work from the Rebel Wolves studio, which includes several former CD Projekt RED employees, including Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the game director of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The developers have big plans for the story, as The Blood of Dawnwalker is only intended to mark its first chapter.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is being developed with Unreal Engine 5 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. At the very end of the video you can see the first short gameplay scenes. The studio would like to present the game in more detail in the summer.
