Wrath of the Lich King is the second expansion for the newly launched online role-playing game World of Warcraft Classic. Those nostalgic can now return to the Northrend region with their WoW subscription and fight the Lich King again. After Burning Crusade (BC), Wrath of the Lich King (WotLK) is still one of the most popular WoW expansions worldwide.
And this despite the fact that Blizzard provides new content almost every two years, has now published eight expansions and, in the case of WotLK, the game is almost 14 years old. Accordingly, the new edition as a classic version could bring many long-established World of Warcraft players back to the monitor, at least that’s the hope of the developers.
Nostalgics should quickly find their way around WoW Classic: Wrath of the Lich King, because fundamentally hardly anything has changed from the version published in 2008. The maximum level will be raised to level 80 and Northrend will be introduced as a new continent with eight areas. Furthermore, the “new” Death Knight class and Inscription can now be accessed as a profession.
Over the course of the expansion, well-known raids (raids) such as Icecrown Citadel, Ulduar, Naxxramas 25, and the Ruby Sanctum will also be unlocked. An active World of Warcraft subscription is required for WoW Classic and Wrath of the Lich King. Apart from that, Blizzard offers special Northrend Heroic and Epic upgrades at prices of 49.99 euros and 79.99 euros respectively.
With them, players receive, among other things, character upgrades to level 70 including equipment and skills as well as mounts, companions (pets), and up to 30 days of playing time. Before buying, however, Blizzard makes it clear that the basic version of WotLK Classic is already included in the normal WoW subscription.
