Facebook cancels its upcoming Global Marketing Conference

The upcoming global marketing conference has been cancelled by Facebook in precaution for the coronavirus outbreak. This global marketing conference was set to take place in San Francisco’s Moscone Center in March. It was expected that 4000 will attend the conference.

However, a Facebook spokesperson in a statement said, “Our priority is the health and safety of our teams, so out of an abundance of caution, we cancelled our Global Marketing Summit due to evolving public health risks related to coronavirus.”

Facebook canceling this global marketing conference has come up following the cancellation of the Mobile World Congress due to the same reason, ‘the threat of coronavirus’. Before Mobile World Congress was cancelled many companies themselves announced that they will not attend the conference due to health concerns. These companies included LG, Ericsson, Nvidia, Intel, Vivo, Sony, Amazon, NTT Docomo, Cisco, Nokia, BT, HMD, and Facebook itself.

Over 49000 people have been infected from coronavirus to date. Out of these 1383 people have died so far from the virus. The virus has had its effect on many industries especially the tech market.

Tech stores were closed, there were the production and manufacturing shortages and cancellation of important tech events. As of now the virus is not spreading widely in other countries other than China. Thus, the World Health Organization has not made any suggestions regarding canceling meetings outside China.

In another article, we informed our readers that a Special Assistant to PM on Health Dr. Zafar Mirza said that at least four Pakistani students that had been diagnosed with coronavirus disease in China were fully recovered now.
