Facebook apparently is testing to replace “share” with “message” option button on News Feed. The new format would most probably be reducing the public sharing—which has been a significant part of the social networking giant.
As per a Twitter post by Matt Navarra—who is also a known social and digital media consultant, Facebook is working on replacing the share button on the posts with a Message button.
This update is seemingly coming for all the posts on news feed throughout the profiles and pages.

Indeed, this is an obvious step from the social networking giant for users to communicate more on the Messenger. This replacement would definitely make the timelines a lot less messy, however, it would affect the organic reach of pages heavily.
Facebook has not confirmed regarding the rollout of this feature yet, and also the testing for the replacement is also no assurance that the feature might be introduced, however, it would for sure be limiting the amount of time spent on the social site.
Not many people use Facebook Messenger as a means of communication, and if Facebook intends to urge people on using it, it is most likely that the users just hang on the primary Facebook application and just leave it.
If this is what the social site is aiming for, it also makes sense for its latest efforts in assisting users to manage their time on the social site. Earlier this week, Facebook launched time management tools for both Instagram and Facebook, for allowing users to see the amount of time they spend on the apps on a daily and weekly basis.
