After giving our readers a piece of irritating news that Facebook will be showing ads on WhatsApp, now we have some good news for most WhatsApp users. Facebook is backing off from its plan to add ads within WhatsApp Messenger.
According to the reports WhatsApp has shelved its plan of working to integrate them “deleted from WhatsApp’s code.” But Facebook is still aiming to bring advertising to the Instagram Stories-style Status feature within the messaging app sometime in 2020.
Since Facebook’s acquisition of WhatsApp back in 2014 for $22 billion, it has been hard for Facebook to monetize it. After the 99 cent yearly subscription fees were removed back in 2016, this was the first time that Facebook again decided to monetize WhatsApp but it is again backing off.

One of the major reasons that co-founder Jan Koum left Facebook in 2018 was the potential for ads in WhatsApp. Brian Acton, his fellow co-founder also left WhatsApp over similar issues. Since leaving Facebook he had been the vocal critic of the app.
Presently, the WhatsApp Business platform enables businesses to directly connect with Facebook by charging a small ‘per message’ fee to host or help this direct conversation with customers. It is not known how much money is generated by it but in all probability, it is quite less than what could be generated by launching ads to the messaging app.
