Facebook office in London will create 800 UK jobs

London would be the biggest hub for Facebook in the coming days after the United States. Philip Hammond, minister finance of England has welcomed Facebook to come and invest in their country, the minister has visited the site where Facebook wishes to open up their new office in the heart of London, Oxford Street.

Philip said, “It clearly indicates the confidence of innovative tech companies like Facebook has in our country.”

Facebook announced its hiring and investment last year in November, along with that Deliveroo, Google also announced last year January to expand in the country making a total of adding 3000 jobs in the UK.

However, London is already committed to its new digital strategy which promises investment of 17 million pounds in AI development alone. Britain is now taking serious steps to make technology their first priority as services oriented country should always have.

Despite the decision to leave the European Union after the Brexit, Britain receives much of confidence from tech companies as to become the future technological hub. There is no doubt Britain has strong trade relationships with EU and rest of the world.

EMEA vice president Nicola Mendelsohn said, “The UK’s growing entrepreneurial ecosystem, there digital strategy and international reputation for engineering excellence makes it one of the best places to build a tech company.” According to Reuters

The site where Facebook is planning to get its feet will also feature Facebook’s first in-house startup incubator named LDN_LAB which is specifically designed to jumpstart British digital businesses.

The UK is expected to boost its startups after this development, London Mayor Sadiq Khan said in a statement, “The emphasis on engineering and the 800 new jobs in London remain at the front of global innovation.”

Facebook’s incubator center would definitely play a critical role attracting more talent to London, we will pave the way for next-generation startups. The addition of new jobs which comes after 10 years of company’s first office in London would increase the total British workforce to 2300 by the end of 2018.

The new office will have engineers, developers, sales & marketing teams as a workforce.
