Facebook Testing Dark Mode for its Mobile App

Facebook is testing the dark mode for its mobile  app after launching the dark mode for its desktop interface.

According to a spokesperson, Facebook has made the dark mode available to limited number of people worldwide.

The Facebook’s mobile version of dark mode is “meant to cut down on glare,” specifically in the low-light environments. This was revealed by the spokesperson.

However, no timeline is given as to when the dark mode would be available to all the mobile users.

It is somewhat surprising that it has taken so long for Facebook to launch a mobile dark mode. Facebook-owned apps, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger already had a dark mode. Also, Twitter had a night mode version for its Android and iOS apps, and Google also launched a dark mode for its app earlier in 2020.

The option of low-light and dark mode enable users to change the background color of an app window to black which makes app easier to view.

On another note, it is important to mention here that there are many ad companies that are boycotting Facebook, claiming that Facebook puts profit over people.
