Facebook to Introduce Ads in Stories

Facebook is planning on exploring new ways of monetizing and says is would start displaying ads in stories.

In a recent blog, Yoav Arnstein, Director, Facebook App Monetization said:

In the coming weeks, we’ll begin testing the ability for content creators to monetize their Facebook Stories with ads that look like stickers and receive a portion of the resulting revenue. While the initial test is small, we hope to soon expand to more content creators. And then broaden it to short-form videos on Facebook, eventually providing a way for content creators to monetize this popular content.

After getting fame, Facebook is taking advantage of Facebook Stories and attract more ad creators.

The company is also enriching short videos with in-stream video ads. Ad creators can now have ads placed in videos as short as one minute. However, for such content, creators must have 600,000 minutes viewed in the last 30 days from video – whether it’s live, on-demand, or otherwise. Also, they must have at least five active and uploaded videos at the time of application.

Facebook also said that in-stream ads would also be shown in live videos. Any creator with 60,000 live minutes in the previous 60 days qualifies for this feature.

More from the source says that the company is also investing $7 million to drive the adoption of Stars (a virtual currency) in live videos. This is to boost the creator’s revenue.
