Farhan Akhtar Permanently Deletes his Facebook Account – Here’s Why

Today the famous Bollywood Actor Farhan Akhtar deleted his Facebook account. Farhan Akhtar posted on Twitter to announce this news.

He wrote, “Good morning. This is to inform you all that I have permanently deleted my personal Facebook account. However, the verified FarhanAkhtarLive page is still active.”

Even though no reason was mentioned by Farhan for quitting the social media platform, but people have already started guessing.  Farhan has deleted his account after the whole controversy Facebook is facing in present times. It is being claimed that Cambridge Analytica, the UK consulting firm was hired by the US President Donald Trump during 2016 elections and data of 50 million Facebook users was misused to influence the results of the elections.

Akhtar’s quitted Facebook after similar steps were taken by Elon Musk, Cher and Jim Carrey. The #DeleteFacebook movement is gaining momentum among masses and Facebook is in big trouble these days.

A couple of days ago Elon Musk’s rocket company SpaceX and electric carmaker Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) Facebook pages just vanished. He was challenged on Twitter to delete the pages and he did that.

As a user said to Elon Musk, “Delete SpaceX page on Facebook if you’re the man?” He replied “I didn’t realize there was one. Will do.”

And then he did exactly that.

Similarly, the WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton recently tweeted “It is time #deletefacebook”.

Jim Carrey tweeted: “I’m dumping my Facebook stock and deleting my page because Facebook profited from Russian interference in our elections and they’re still not doing enough to stop it.”

Now Farhan Akhtar has also left Facebook and the reason seems quite apparent.
