Firaxis will soon reveal first gameplay
Civilization 6 was released around eight years ago and fans are already eagerly awaiting the next installment, despite several expansions being released since then. Civilization 7 has also already been announced, but so far there has been no sign of it. That will soon change.
Civilization 7 is due to be released next year
Civilization 6 was released in autumn 2016 and although the strategy game is still played regularly by many people, eight years is an eternity in the gaming business. And even if you shouldn’t expect any fundamental changes in the now 33-year-old strategy series, fans are really looking forward to what’s new. Developer Firaxis released an announcement trailer at the beginning of June, but it didn’t reveal much (or rather nothing) about the game. All you can see is a few epic images with figures leaning on statues that offer a quick run through the story.
What the gameplay will look like and what new features are planned is not yet known. But that will change on August 20th, because a gameplay trailer has been announced for the Gamescom opening – the Opening Night Live presented by Geoff Keighley. This event starts at 8 p.m. our time.
“Deep Immersion” in Civ 7
What’s more, immediately following the opening, Firaxis will broadcast a 20-minute showcase via Twitch. This presentation will offer “insights and deep dives into the new features and innovations” of Civilization 7, it says (via PC Gamers). However, the press release does not contain any clues or even hints as to what this could be. In typical PR language, they promise a “revolutionary new chapter in the franchise” that will include “innovative new features”. There have also been no relevant leaks about the next part of the series, so we will have to wait and see what the strategy-focused studio comes up with.
