Further update for seven DSL and cable FritzBoxes

After exactly one week, the Fritz Lab has released another FritzOS 7.90 update for DSL and cable routers. This time it is a little smaller than usual. AVM is primarily dedicated to fixing errors in its FritzBox models.

Next round of FritzOS updates

Just yesterday, AVM distributed several updates for various devices. These included a FritzOS update for the Fritz!WLAN Repeater DVB-C to version 7.04, an update of the Fritz!App Fon for Android devices to version 2.12.2 and a laboratory version of FritzOS 7.62 for the Fritz!Smart Gateway. Today there is another new FritzOS 7.90 beta for seven routers. AVM released the last laboratory update for all devices exactly one week ago. As was the case back then, the following FritzBox models are included:

  • FritzBox 7590 AX (Version 7.90-114966)
  • FritzBox 7590 (Version 7.90-114960)
  • FritzBox 7530 (Version 7.90-114962)
  • FritzBox 6690 Cable (Version 7.90-114969)
  • FritzBox 6670 Cable (Version 7.90-114987)
  • FritzBox 6660 Cable (Version 7.90-114963)
  • FritzBox 6591 Cable (Version 7.90-114961)

Bug fixes and an adjustment

Like last week, the routers once again receive ‘only’ bug fixes and adjustments with the latest update. There are again no new functions. Due to the short time since the last update, the scope is also somewhat smaller. Nevertheless, AVM has taken care of the following points: WLAN:

  • Note text when selecting WLAN encryption “WPA2+WPA3” has been removed

Internet:

  • On PCP ports, the PCP port range was not displayed in the online monitor

WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS:

  • Problems with handling radar-related channel changes (FritzBox 7590 AX and FritzBox 6660 Cable)

Installing the update

The update for the listed FritzBox models can be installed as usual directly via the router interface, which can be accessed at fritz.box. The second option is to download it manually from the Website of the Fritz Laboratory. As always, we would like to point out at the end that this is beta software. Despite tests carried out, problems with the routers may occur after installation. It is therefore advisable to create a backup of the FritzBox settings before updating.
