Gemini Nano is reserved for high-end Google phones

Gemini Nano is already available on the high-end model of the Pixel 8 series. However, it is unavailable on Google Pixel 8, the base model of the series. Several Pixel 8 users are awaiting the arrival of Gemini Nano to their devices. However, it appears like it is not bound to happen.

Just recently, the tech giant Google aired its latest episode of the #TheAndroidShow. In this episode, topics like Android 15, Gemini Nano, MWC, and others were discussed. But there was an intriguing revelation during the Q&A segment of the show. Terence Zhang, a developer relations engineer at Google said that Gemini Nano won’t be available on Pixel 8 devices.

It appears like the major reason behind missing out the Gemini Nano on Pixel 8 is the lack of appropriate hardware. Besides this, the company is planning to introduce the AI features to more devices in the future. According to Zhang, Google is working on making the mobile-friendly LLM available on more mobile devices. He does, however, emphasize that the AI will eventually reach the high-end devices.

The smallest AI model debuted by Google is Gemini Nano. It is compatible with smartphones and other low-end devices. There is no word regarding the unavailability of AI features on base model of the Pixel 8 series. We don’t know anything regarding hardware limitations. We will share the updates once they are available.
