Google Announces First 5G Smartphones Pixel 4a And Pixel 5

The Internet company Google has announced its first smartphones with 5G support. It was announced in the course of the launch of the new Google Pixel 4a that the cheapest Google Phone, as well as the Google Pixel 5, will soon be offered in a 5G version.

As Google just announced in a blog entry, the company plans to launch its first smartphones with an integrated 5G modem later this year. On the one hand, this is an “improved” version of the Pixel 4a, in which you want to offer a 5G modem for the first time for 499 euros.

Pixel 4a is drilled out, pixel 5 is added

Google did not yet give an exact date but spoke of the launch of the Google Pixel 4a 5G in autumn 2020. Around the same time, the Google Pixel 5, the first Android smartphone flagship smartphone, is to be launched but have not yet given any details. In general, Google was still reluctant to provide further information about its first 5G smartphones. It is interesting that Google wants to make the first two 5G-capable devices from its pixel range available in Europe right from the start. The Group also announced this today, even if the international 5G networks are still in their infancy.

Among other things, Google promised that the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 could “make streaming videos, downloads and video games faster and smoother with Stadia or other platforms”. Observers are currently assuming that Google will not place its new 5G devices at the upper end of the performance scale, but rather in the middle to upper-middle class. The camera experience should be the focus again, while at the same time trying to reach a wider audience through cheaper prices.
