Google Cancels Pixel 10 Superfan Preview Event Without Explanation

Just two weeks ago, Google invited its most loyal fans to an exclusive preview event for the upcoming Pixel 10. Now the group has surprisingly canceled the event planned for the end of June.

Preview event canceled for pixel 10

There have been rumors for the upcoming Pixel 10 from Google for some time. Four models should be planned that are equipped with the Tensor G5 CPU. The main camera, on the other hand, could get a clear downgrade.

There was also fresh information in the start date of the Pixel 10. So only August 13 was mentioned as a release date before the appointment was postponed to August 20 at short notice. Now Google has also surprisingly cancel the exclusive preview event for Pixel 10 for its most loyal fans two weeks ago.

Vague justification on the part of Google

The “Pixel Penthouse” event in London should give selected members of the Superfans program a first look at “coming devices”-a hardly covered allusion to the new Pixel 10 series. Google speaks in a message to the selected participants (via Android Authority) But now of “unforeseen circumstances” that would have led to the cancellation.

The group does not give any details of the exact reasons. Google’s superfans program has existed for several years and is aimed at particularly loyal users of the Pixel smartphones. Members regularly receive exclusive insights into new products and can take part in special events.

The schedule remains unchanged

However, the superfans event was never planned as a replacement for the official presentation. Rather, it should be an exclusive preview, while the actual launch is apparently still scheduled for August. Nevertheless, there is a little question of what problems Google has to deal with that prevent a preview of the smartphone in the previously planned framework.

Google had already broken with traditions last year and presented the Pixel 9 series in August instead of as usual in October. This strategy enabled the company to score in September in front of Apple’s iPhone launch in September.

Tensor G5 as a heart

As mentioned at the beginning, the Pixel 10 is expected to be the first Google smartphone with the new tensor G5 chip. It marks an important turning point, because Google changes to TSMC as a manufacturing partner. TSMC is known for its advanced 3NM production technology, which is already being used in Apple’s latest processors. Experts expect significant improvements in performance and energy efficiency.

The new chip could make progress, especially in heat development and battery life – two areas in which former Pixel models were often criticized. Google had to even provide updates that reduce the battery power for several devices to prevent overheating. Most recently, there were several reports on Pixel smartphones that had ignited when charging.

Four models expected

In addition to the base model Pixel 10, Google is expected to also present a Pixel 10 Pro, a Pixel 10 Pro XL and a foldable pixel 10 Pro Fold. Visually, the devices are likely to be very similar to their predecessors, since Google is largely maintained the design of the Pixel 9 series, as can be seen in initial pictures. The characteristic camera bar on the back is therefore preserved.
