Google: Google Duo Group Call Feature Is Coming To Web

Google rolled out web support for one-on-one calls last year through its Duo video calling service, but today it announced that group calls to the web will finally roll out in the weeks ahead.

Starting as a preview of Chrome, group calls will be introduced on the web alongside a redesigned Duo layout that will allow you to see more people on your screen at once. Plus, anyone with a Google account can join Duo group calls simply by using a link.

Google is also adding a new family mode to Duo, which allows you to draw and apply video effects and masks on the screen for others in the call. During any call you can access family mode from the overflow menu, and it will automatically hide the buttons to hang or mute your audio to prevent accidental touches.

Those same masks and effects will also roll out slowly to regular Duo calls, with a Mother’s Day effect starting as early as this week.
