Google is enhancing tablet and Android phone interoperability

Apple is one of the companies that provides better integration between its devices. From this perspective, Samsung is ranked second. However, the integration and interoperability offered with Samsung devices are not as good and convenient as Apple’s. According to some recent pieces of information, Google is interested in introducing enhanced integration among Android devices.

In an effort to integrate Android and Chrome OS devices, the tech giant Google has been experimenting with ‘Cross-Device Services’ for the last few years. However, recent reports suggest that the company is working on more cross-device features that will help with interoperability between Android tablets and smartphones. One thing to notice here is that these features are already available on iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

According to 9To5Google, the Cross-Device Services settings in Play Services could be renamed to ‘Devices & Sharing.’ The new changes were spotted in version 24.06.12 of Play Services by @AssembleDebug. Reportedly, it now hosts three different features, including Call Cast, Hotspot Sharing, and Wi-Fi Sharing. The possible function of these features is depicted by their respective names.

With the help of the Call Cast feature, users can transfer video or voice calls from one device to another. One thing that must be considered for transferring incoming or ongoing video or voice calls is that the devices must be logged in with the same Google account. Users can automatically turn on the Wi-Fi Hotspot and connect to devices. Wi-Fi Sharing feature will enable users to access the passwords of Wi-Fi networks on their devices. They can access the password of the Wi-Fi network connected to any given device from another device.

In addition to this, the tech giant Google has been working on a feature called Device Groups. With the help of this feature, users will be able to link and activate certain features across multiple devices with the same Google account. Just recently, Nearby Share by Google was merged with Samsung’s Quick Share feature. Such a merger enables a convenient option for wireless file sharing.
