Google might introduce the Pixel tablet with UWB connectivity

Several new reports indicate that Google is going to introduce its first-gen Pixel tablet with Ultra Wideband (UWB) connectivity. The recent information is based on an FCC certification. Recently, an unofficial Google product with Model number GTU8P was certified by the American regulatory body. Do note that the document doesn’t indicate that the device is a Pixel Tablet. These are simply clues and guesses.

A document outlining the position of the e-label can be found in the aforementioned FCC certification listing for the new “wireless device” made by Google. According to the paper, the label may be seen in Settings (under About > Regulatory labels). This eliminates the idea that the product is one of Google’s Nest-branded smart speakers or displays by confirming that it is an Android product. Delving deep into the details of FCC listings, it is reported that the Android-powered Google product is presented with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and UWB connectivity support. However, the device doesn’t have 4G or 5G cellular connectivity.

It couldn’t be a smartphone. All these listings conclude that it could be the first-gen Pixel tablet by Google. Besides this, no information is available. For a long time, we have been hearing about the Pixel Tablet, however, it has not been made official by the company as yet. Some reports indicate that the company might unveil the new tablet during I/O annual developer conference. The event is scheduled for May.

Google may use UWB on the Pixel Tablet for quick media sharing

Well, UWB connectivity is not something new to Google devices. Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro feature UWB connectivity. It can be used to unlock compatible cars with smartphones. similarly, it can be utilized for short-range, high-bandwidth communications. Some rumors suggest that Google might equip its high-end Nest speakers with UWB connectivity.

With the above-mentioned possibility for a Pixel Tablet introduced with UWB connectivity, it can be speculated that Google is creating an ecosystem of devices where users can swiftly hand off media from one to the other. Media can be switched from mobile phones to tablets. Similarly, users can switch music playback from a tablet to a Nest speaker. Well, there is no confirmation about this news.
