For Google, this has been a huge week. Following yesterday’s renaming of Bard to Gemini and the release of several new AI-related features, the tech behemoth today reached 100 million Google One members. The momentous milestone couldn’t have come at a better time.
The historic accomplishment was declared on Friday morning on X (formerly Twitter) by Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Alphabet, the parent company of Google. Pichai continued by talking about accelerating the momentum with the recently introduced Google One AI Premium Plan.
The company’s flagship cloud service, Google One, offers perks in addition to the free functions that are available to all users. In addition to increasing the 15GB of free cloud storage on Google Drive to 100GB or more, paid subscribers also have access to additional editing tools for Google Photos, storage-sharing choices, a Google One VPN, and other advantages.
Prior to yesterday, US Google One customers had the option of subscribing to either the $1.99/month Basic Plan or the $9.99/month Premium Plan. The new AI Premium Plan, which upgrades the current Premium Plan with a number of AI goodies, is currently available for $19.99 per month. These consist of having access to Gemini Advanced as well as receiving help from Gemini in Gmail, Docs, and other Google apps when they become accessible.
