Google Phone App Settings Redesign Teased in Latest Beta

Google is working on a redesigned Settings page for its Phone app, and it closely mirrors the upcoming segmented Settings menu UI expected to debut with Android 16. We’ve enabled this updated design in the latest Phone app beta to give you an early look.

What’s New in the Redesigned Phone App Settings?

The updated Settings page introduces a more structured design, grouping similar menu items for better accessibility. Each group has a distinct background, improving visibility and making touch targets more obvious.

Here’s how it looks:

• Light Theme: The settings page features a light gray background, while menu items are displayed with a white background.
• Dark Theme: A dark gray background is paired with black backgrounds for menu items.
• Wallpaper-Based Theming: The new design also supports dynamic theming, adjusting background colors and UI elements based on your chosen wallpaper.

These changes resemble the redesigned Settings home page from Android 15 QPR1 Beta 2, where similar grouping and background sections were introduced.

When Will It Be Available?

The new Phone app Settings design isn’t live yet in the latest beta release, but it’s likely to roll out with a future update. Given that Android 16 is expected to bring the segmented Settings redesign, Google could release the revamped Phone app settings around the same time.

Other Google apps may also adopt this segmented design in the months leading up to Android 16’s launch.
