Google Pixel 6 Pro Will Receive Android Updates Till 2025

The new Google smartphones Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro should not only be provided with security patches for five years but also receive a total of four Android updates. This means that the flagships would possibly be supported up to Android 16 in 2025.

It is known that Google not only prefers to supply its Pixel models with updates but also keeps them up-to-date for significantly longer than its partners from Samsung, and Sony. A new leak from the often well-informed Twitter user Snoopytech shows that the search engine giant could provide at least four Android upgrades for its Pixel 6 Pro models. If the smartphones are delivered with Android 12 as planned, this would indicate preliminary planning for the upcoming Android 16.

Apple’s Update Policy Followed

Just a few days ago, various documents of the Pixel 6 (Pro) were leaked that promise updates to the smartphones for a total of five years. However, this information is primarily about security patches. The ‘update policy’ could still be received positively by many interested parties, as it continues to approximate the often generous Apple standard with a five to six-year update guarantee. With many other manufacturers, the updates often end after a maximum of three years.

Google will shed light on October 19th and publish the final details about the Pixel 6 Pro. The launch event will take place next Tuesday at 7 p.m. German time. Everything about the technical data should be known by now. The flagships will be with 6.4 and 6.7 inch OLED displays, 50-megapixel cameras, the new Google Tensor chip, up to 8 GB of RAM, a maximum of 512 GB of flash memory and a capacity of up to 5000 mAh Equip batteries. Prices will start from $750 or 649 euros.
