Google Pixel 7 Pro: Camera Details surfaced

Although the new generation of Google Pixel will only appear in the fall, the first information about the camera of the new flagship model has now leaked. While the hardware shouldn’t change much, Google could rely on additional software features. It has been known for some time that the Pixel 7 is probably very similar to its predecessor.

Visually, the device should only differ slightly from the Pixel 6. Some of the built-in components could also be copied. A leak from Yogesh Brar suggests that the Pixel 6’s camera will also be found in the Pixel 7. Google would have made only a few optimizations to the built-in sensors. The lenses should not differ from the components installed in the Pixel 6.

New software bring improvements

Most improvements don’t come from other hardware but from software upgrades. Google probably relies on AI features for this, which take advantage of the better performance of the new Tensor chip. It is not yet clear which features are involved. Since the new processor only works in the Pixel 7 Pro, the software updates for the Pixel 6 should no longer be submitted at a later date.

The Google Pixel 6 uses a 50-megapixel wide-angle camera with Octa PD and Quad Bayer. In addition, a twelve-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera was installed. The Pixel 6 Pro also has a 48-megapixel camera with a telephoto lens. It can be assumed that the third sensor will also be included in the Pixel 7 Pro.

A previous leak shows that the Pixel 7 Pro has a 6.3 or 6.7 inches OLED screen. The Tensor 2 chip would be connected to a 5G modem from Samsung. All in all, the device should be slightly smaller than its predecessor. The release is likely to take place as part of a launch event in October 2022.
