Google Pixel Buds 2a Leak Reveals New Design, Possible ANC Upgrade

Google will soon introduce the Pixel Buds 2a, new renders show the budget model in the color Iris with revised microphone openings. The successors of the four-year-old Pixel Buds A series could finally get active noise suppression.

Pixel Buds 2a show up for the first time in Renders

Google apparently is planning new budget headphones: The Pixel Buds 2a are to act as the successor to the Pixel Buds A-Series published in June 2021. With a four -year break between the generations, Google follows its proven pattern not to publish new headphones every year. The first leaked but apparently official rendering pictures show the new model in the color “Iris”, which is already known from Pixel 9a.

The new headphones keep the proven design, the same applies to the oval charging cradle. However, new microphone openings on the headphones, which were missing from the original A-series, are striking. This change indicates that Google may implement active noise suppression (ANC) – a feature that lacked the predecessors. How Android headlines reports, the Pixel Buds 2a, in addition to the Iris variant, should also be available in the colors Strawberry, Fog Light and possibly Hazel. In contrast to the Pro models with black interior, the inside of the charging shell is matched to the headphones.

This design decision is already known from the A series, which should underline continuity in Google’s budget line. With the 2a, Google certainly also wants to implement improvements in battery life and sound quality, but details are not yet available. The integration of ANC would first equip the budget headphones with premium features that were previously reserved for the more expensive pixel buds.
