Google Play Store Rolls Out Redesigned Subscriptions Page

In July 2024, Google introduced the Collections widget for the Play Store, offering personalized app recommendations based on what’s already installed on your phone. While this feature was officially announced, another new addition flew under the radar—a redesigned Subscriptions page aimed at making subscription benefits clearer. Now, six months later, Google is finally rolling out the updated Subscriptions page.

According to Android Authority, the revamped Subscriptions page highlights the perks included with active subscriptions, a significant improvement over the previous version. Previously, users could only see the next renewal date and the payment amount. With the update, a new “Your plan includes” section details some of the benefits tied to each subscription.

Expired or past subscriptions now feature a “Subscription benefits include” section, showing the perks that were once available. To cancel an active subscription, you simply tap the app’s name and select the “Cancel subscription” option. The changes are being rolled out widely with the latest Play Store update (v44.7.24-31) and are already live on several Android devices. To check if you’ve received the new interface, tap your profile picture in the top-right corner of the Play Store and navigate to Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. If you don’t see it yet, it should arrive soon.

This update is particularly useful for users who manage multiple subscriptions through the Play Store. The new layout allows you to see all your perks at a glance, helping you understand the value you’re getting. However, for users with only one or two subscriptions, the benefits of the redesign will likely feel minimal.

Should Google Highlight Subscription Perks on App Listings?

While the revamped Subscriptions page is a step in the right direction, Google could take things further by showcasing subscription perks directly within app descriptions. Although many developers already include these details, they’re often hidden in lengthy text. A dedicated header with a simple bullet list of subscription benefits would make it much easier for users to understand what they’re getting before subscribing.
