Google Releases Android 12 Stable Version Now

The development of Android 12 is now complete – the stable version has now been published in the Android Open Source Project. The updates for user devices do not start with that – but it is an important milestone in the release cycle.

The publication in the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) is basically the “starting shot” for Android 12. According to the report by Android Authority, it will now in all probability be a few days, if not weeks the update arrives on the first user smartphones. It could even be the case this year that other OEMs are releasing a stable version of Android 12 before Google does it for their own Pixel smartphones. That remains to be seen, but it would be an exciting development.

Google has now given the go-ahead for Android 12, at least as planned. The update is ready and will soon be distributed for the first smartphones – including devices from OnePlus, Xiaomi, and OPPO. As usual, some features are reserved exclusively for Google Pixel smartphones.

Update is under development

This means that Google is not only starting the new feature update on its own Pixel devices, it is also available for other smartphones in a timely manner, as was the case with Android 11. Nevertheless, many users will have to wait a long time before they can get Android 12 – if their smartphone is intended for the update at all. Android 12 may be rolled out for the first selected Pixel, OnePlus, Xiaomi, OPPO, and Realme smartphones in the coming days.

Other Google partners will bring new devices onto the market in the coming months and offer them Android 12 right away. More information will be available soon on Google’s Android overview page.
