Google has released the third beta version of Android 13 and while it doesn’t introduce any major new features, it does mark an important milestone in the development of the operating system ahead of its final release.
Google just released the third Android 13 beta for supported Pixel phones. The new release comes almost a month after the second beta, right on time and in line with the company’s previously announced release schedule. This version is important because it allows Android 13 to achieve platform stability.
This means that developer APIs and application performance on this next version of the operating system are final. Until the software’s public release in a few months, developers should now focus on compatibility and overall app quality and fix the latest bugs. No major functionality should be introduced in the following betas.
Google’s Beta 3 blog post is full of essential documentation for developers to make sure their app is compatible with all Android 13 changes and improvements It also includes new documentation for large screen devices such as foldable smartphones and tablets. They cover changes to multi-window mode, taskbar interaction, and media streaming. In terms of new features, the only big change seems to be the improved copy and paste.
There are also new Pixel Launcher settings that allow users the ability to enable web suggestions This feature displays suggested search terms for web queries as you type your text. You can also click directly on the new “Search YouTube” or “Search Maps” buttons when entering a Google search As a reminder, if you still haven’t tried Android 13, you should first check if your smartphone is compatible. The list of eligible devices had grown significantly recently. If you have a high-end last-generation smartphone, it is likely compatible.
