Google under a lawsuit to secretly collect users’ data in Incognito mode

Google is under a lawsuit over a petition to secretly trace users in the Incognito mode. Judge Lucy Koh says that the search engine giant didn’t notify these users before it actually keeps users’ data.

The lawsuit’s members had challenged Google of misleading users, telling them their data was private, but the search engine still took it. Google had claimed that users agreed to its privacy policy and knew that the search engine was collecting data.

The results of the lawsuit are yet to be announced. Google might have to compensate the winning side if the search engine lost the case.

Incognito mode is there to keep websites out of local search history and cookies, it doesn’t block all potentially identifying traffic.

Though, many don’t know about Incognito’s true behavior, just like the petitioners. The lawsuit may ask Google to inform users what it does and doesn’t collect clearly.
