Google will mandate that all developers permit users to deactivate their accounts

One of the major issues in the tech industry is data security, and Google is searching for ways to safeguard user data on the Play Store. Google will mandate that all apps on the Play Store allow users to remove their accounts and data, according to 9To5Google.

App users are sometimes presented with a major issue. Sometimes the users are unable to delete the account that they were forced to create. Users don’t encourage the act of creating an account just to use an app for the first time. Users try hard to find the delete account button but they find nothing. So, it is a major problem when a user is unable to deactivate their account.

The new changes will require developers to allow users to delete their accounts

Well, this is a major development in terms of data security. With this general rule, all developers must permit account deactivation either internally or externally. Furthermore, Google indicates that the delete account button should be easily discoverable.  It suggests that companies will no longer be in the capacity to hide the delete option from app users. moreover, Google specified that the delete button should actually delete the account rather than temporarily deactivating it, disabling it, pausing it, or freezing it. The user data must be deleted from the company’s servers.

In addition to this, the company has accepted the fact that there are certain conditions under which all accounts can’t be deleted. In this scenario, the terms must be clearly mentioned in the app’s privacy policy. There should be a valid reason if an app needs to keep the user’s data.

This won’t occur for some time

Well, the new switch is going to be along term process for the developers. Since several developers have various apps on the Play Store, so it will take some time to execute these alterations. From December 7th, Google is requesting that developers respond to new Data deletion questions in their app’s Data Safety form. Since it is so far away, the corporation will allow developers to request an extension until May 2024. You won’t notice this change for several apps for at least a year.
