Google will use Artificial Intelligence to interpret your doctor’s written prescription

Most people have a hard time understanding their doctor’s prescription due to their scribbled handwriting. Generally, people across the world face this difficulty. When thinking about this problem what would you say if technology come to your rescue? Yes, you heard it right. What if Google translates your doctor’s handwriting and helps you understand the prescription?

As per some recent developments, users will be able to utilize the AI translate feature by Google to interpret the doctor’s handwriting. According to a new report, Google is working in close vicinity with pharmacists to create a model based on AI (Artificial Intelligence) and machine learning. This model will help with the translation of hard-to-read handwritten notes. During the Annual Google for India conference on Monday. Google unveiled its new AI translate feature.

Currently, the AI translate feature of Google is a prototype. It is not accessible to the public yet. As per demonstrators, users can either capture a direct image of the prescription or upload one from their gallery. Followed by the image uploading, it will be processed. The app will identify and highlight the medication mentioned in the uploaded image of the prescription. Google mentioned that this new tool will serve as an assistive technology. It will help with digitizing handwritten medical documents. The latest model will augment humans in the loop such as pharmacists. However, the final decision won’t solely rely on the output received via this technology.

Besides the recent AI translate feature, Google declared that it is working on a single unified system that will cover more than 100 Indian languages for speech and text.  This feature will be available across Android smartphones, including Galaxy smartphones. Thus, the users will be able to join the internet journey in the South Asian market.
