GTA 6: Zelnick promises “enormous value” for a possible $100

The Take-Two CEO commented on the rumors about a price of $100 for Grand Theft Auto 6. The CEO did not give an exact amount for the action game. Instead, the title should convince with massive gaming value.

No confirmation for $100

Strauss Zelnick, the boss of Take-Two Interactive, commented on the pricing of Grand Theft Auto 6 at the iicon conference in Las Vegas. In view of rumors about a sales price of 100 US dollars (the equivalent of around 85 euros, but actually probably 100 euros) for the action game, which will be released in November 2026, he emphasized that the price had to seem appropriate.

However, the manager did not give an exact amount for the title. Zelnick explained that consumers pay for the value delivered. The company’s task is to charge significantly less than the actual value. The perception of a purchase arises at the interface between the product itself and the costs incurred. It is therefore essential that customers find the game to be great and rate the amount charged as fair. Grand Theft Auto 6: Rockstar Games shows the second trailer

How Rock, paper, shotgun reported, the manager referred to the general market development. Video games have remained relatively cheap compared to inflation in recent years. Most major releases have been selling for $60 to $70 for a decade. Nevertheless, Take-Two does not want to justify the price of Grand Theft Auto 6 solely by simply compensating for inflation.

Focus on the gaming experience

Instead, the development studio Rockstar Games is concentrating on creating an outstanding entertainment product, said Zelnick. If this were successful, the financial aspects would take care of themselves. Meanwhile, industry observers point out that rising development costs are putting many studios under pressure. This makes higher sales prices for large productions more likely in the future. Some current titles already indicate an adjustment to the pricing structures.

For example, Mario Kart World is offered for $80. At the same time, market reactions show that consumers react cautiously when costs are too high. Microsoft recently reduced the price of The Outer Worlds 2 from $80 to $70 after significant criticism from gamers. One hope for gamers is that its predecessor continues to generate millions of dollars in weekly revenue through online modes. This could reduce the financial pressure on the pure sales price of the new main game, especially since you can also expect a windfall for a Grand Theft Auto Online based on GTA 6.
